Non-fiction film distributor Abramorama has announced that it has acquired U.S. distribution rights to InHospitable, a feature documentary that follows patients and activists who band together to assert that business decisions undertaken by a multibillion-dollar non-profit Pennsylvania hospital system have impacted the affordability of vital health care for many vulnerable patients.

Abramorama and Osmosis Films, along with Idorsia Pharmaceuticals, are working together on the theatrical release of a documentary about insomnia, narrated by Octavia Spencer.

After the live music industry shut down in March, it didn’t take long for artists to pivot to livestreams. Following their example, the film industry is similarly beginning to pivot to online premieres. To allow for proper safety measures, PJ Harvey’s upcoming documentary will now have an online streaming premiere.

UPDATE (11/23/20):After having its theatrical release delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Library That Dolly Built will now become available as a worldwide streaming event. The documentary will stream for free exclusively on Facebook Wednesday, December 9th at 7 p.m. ET. The screening will be followed by a performance and conversation featuring Parton.

Abramorama will also release Michael Arlen Davis’ The Test & The Art of Thinking today on VOD.

Abramorama has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Soros, the Jesse Dylan-directed documentary feature about billionaire activist George Soros from Vital Pictures. The film, which had its U.S. premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, will get a live streaming premiere on November 18 on the film’s website followed by a release on Watch Now @ Home starting on November 20th.

EXCLUSIVE: Indie distributor Abramorama has launched Abramorama Selects, a new label that will aim to shepherd global digital distribution and marketing for nonfiction feature films and TV series. As part of the new venture, it has expanded its existing partnership with Giant Pictures to make it a preferred partner, and will kick off the initiative this week with a title fitting for the music doc-focused Abramorama: Herb Alpert Is…, the John Scheinfeld-directed documentary about the music icon.
